Invitation to the International workshop on “Dynamics, Interactions and Electronic Transitions at Surfaces (DIET)” in Shanghai, China

2016-03-24

The International workshop on “Dynamics, Interactions and Electronic Transitions at Surfaces (DIET)” has been a successful conference series that served as an important platform for researchers in the field of surface science to discuss their latest research results, and to exchange new ideas. DIET 15 will be held in Shanghai, China, October 9 – 13, 2016. It includes a mix of invited and contributed talks in a single-session format that provides an ideal atmosphere for lively discussions. There will also be evening poster sessions. This workshop will be focused on the experimental and theoretical studies of the following subjects:

1.Ultrafast electron transfer at surfaces and interfaces

2.Atomic manipulation in the STM via electronic injection/excitation

3.Quantum and spatially resolved mapping of surface dynamics and desorption

4.Photon-, electron- and ion-beam induced processes at complex interfaces

5.The role of non-thermal desorption in astrochemistry and astrophysics

6.Hybrid approaches to local excitation dynamics/reactions

7.Spectroscopy and theory of non-adiabatic surface processes

  8.Non-adiabatic surface chemical reactions

Invited Speakers:

Katharina Al-Shamery, Elizabeth Boer-Duchemin, Philip Christopher, Gérald Dujardin, Wilson Ho, Maki Kawai, Reinhard Kienberger, Greg Kimmel, Dietrich Menzel, Peter Nordlander, Thomas Orlando, Richard E Palmer, Hrvoje Petek, Karsten Reuter, Katrin Rita Siefermann, Peter Sloan, Julia Stahler and more to add.

The workshop will be held in Shanghai, the largest commercial city of China. Check-in and an evening welcome reception will be on Sunday, October 9, and the workshop closes at noon on Thursday, October 13.
